Our House Youth Home

Scheibel Construction has worked with the Our House board on this project as the Construction Manager through pre-construction and fundraising since 2010. This new, 18,767 sq ft, dormitory is built on the same property as the existing youth home which is listed on the Maryland Historical Trust. The dormitory consists of a community room, recreational room, and living quarters for 24 males enrolled in the Our House Program.

Scheibel Construction was the construction manager for the award winning non-profit youth home for young men at risk in Olney, Maryland. The young men who reside on the grounds are being taught construction skills during the day with life skills and GED prep in the evenings. On Saturdays the students perform countless hours of service for the community and other local nonprofits; they learn about the value of giving back.

Our House is a residential job training center for at risk male teens (ages 16-20) from Maryland and the District of Columbia and is located on a 140 acre farm. The young men are referred to the one year program from juvenile courts and/or the foster care system. The founder and executive director, Richard ‘ Benny’ Bienvenue, was named as one of twelve Washingtonians of the Year for 2013. Actor, producer and director, Charles Dutton, is the Honorary Chair of Our House’s building campaign.
