Scheibel was brought in as the Construction Manager after the design was completed. This 206,554 sq ft hotel experienced many design changes throughout the construction process. The project consisted of two hotels within one structure containing 235 guest rooms. The hotel is nine stories high including one level of underground parking. This is a concrete structure with upper decks being post-tension. There is additional parking located on the 2nd floor garage deck. The 2nd floor is a common area shared between the hotels consisting of meeting rooms, work out room, and an indoor pool/spa area.
The main vehicle entrance is off New York Avenue with the drive aisle splitting the two lobby entrances. The building exterior consisted of structural metal stud, insulation, vapor barrier and a rain screen. This LEED Gold hotel project is within walking distance of the NoMa Gallaudet metro station and a short car ride from downtown DC or Chinatown.
